The Big Buddha(Tian Tan Buddha) is the biggest sitting Buddha statue built outdoors, you have to climb 268 steps to reach him. The statue is located near Po Lin Monastery and symbolizes the harmonious relationship between man and nature, people and religion. It is a major center of Buddhism in Hong Kong and is also a popular tourist attraction.
Po Lin Monastery is a Buddhist monastery, it is known as the 'Big Thatched Hut' and was built by three Buddhist monks. The Monastery consists of the Da Xiong Bao Dian (the Great Hall of Treasure), the Maitreya Hall, the Hall of Ti-tsang Bodhisattva, the Weituo Hall, the Banruo Hall, the Sutra-Collection Hall and other impressive structures.
